YouTube maybe will save Black Voices

With the launch of its original production division in 2016, Google-owned YouTube had ambitions of becoming a subscription-streaming business.

That dream is now coming to an end. In a social media post, chief business officer Robert Kyncl announced the company is essentially shuttering the unit, save for existing commitments and ongoing programs that are part of our Black Voices and YouTube Kids Funds. Per Variety, YouTube shifted away from scripted to unscripted series in 2018, and is now ending those shows, too.
